I don’t know if you are feeling it, but I certainly am. It’s the feeling you get when something big is about to happen, and you are just there, waiting. This country is red-hot right now. Everyone is in the mood for a fight, and no one is in the mood for reconciliation. People want justice, or revenge – and it’s getting ugly. The pride of the USA has reached a peak. Everyone is right in their own eyes. Even in the churches, there are those who gloat and jest about the fact that their candidate “won” the contested, scandalous election. Others are living in fear of what the future holds if the agenda of the sympathizers for ANTIFA and BLM continues to move forward in governance. Truly these are perilous times, but in Christ, we have an advantage that the world cannot have: We are the body of Christ, and as His body, we are gifted.
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines. The body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:7-12).
I have no insight into the immediate future. I have heard prophets speak just like anyone else, and have believed in hope that what they are saying is factual. I have prayed myself, asking God for what is next so that I can warn the church. He has not given me anything except this: Be a shepherd, filled with the Spirit
That was for me, and it was comforting. See, God is not surprised about anything that is happening right now. In this season, it may be wise to ask, not what WE should do, but what YOU should do. Instead of praying for national obedience, pray for personal obedience. Instead of national repentance, pray personal repentance. In going to God, I came to understand the part I play in the grand scheme of things – and that is to care about you, deeply as you obey Him.
Don’t worry about what the enemy is doing. God has a divine strategy to embarrass the adversary. You are His strategy. But for your sake, you will need to be in place. What are you in this story? WHO are you in this story? We don’t have 15 years for you to figure out how to activate your spiritual gift. It’s time, now. Get into place in the body of Christ, and listen to what the Spirit is saying. Find yourself in the gifts of the spirit, and ask God to help you go forward in that gift. This is not the time to hide. It is the time to shine, and become what this time in history is begging you to be. So, join me as a member of the body of Christ and function fully in your glorious role. You won’t regret it.
One more thing: Don’t let anyone plant seeds of doubt in your mind that the gifts of the Spirit are not for today. That’s garbage theology designed to sap you of your faith and hope. Yes…GARBAGE. Men and women have created an entire world of teachings that are built on the foundation of their own doubt and unbelief. Such individuals are often not teachable, and are full of pride. They also often have a huge platform. God has not ceased His gifts in the church, just as the devil has not relinquished one ounce of demonic signs and lying wonders which he uses against God’s people. The Father will not leave us powerless. Please remember that, and pray earnestly for the gifts of God to work through you.
