Halloween is of the devil

As you know, next week is Halloween. If you have not heard my podcast on this, I suggest you listen to it. While I am not against having fun, children’s parties, and general holiday cheer, I also understand that Halloween is not one of those holidays. At First Love Fellowship, we simply do not acknowledge the day, at all – not even with replacement events. Here’s why: Halloween is a modernized version of the festival of the dead. Druid priests were the spiritual ambassadors of the occultic arts, and historically were known for worshipping demons and sacrificing humans.

“In ancient Britain and Ireland, the Celtic festival of Samhain was observed on October 31 at the end of the summer … The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on this day and the autumnal festival acquired sinister significance, with ghosts, witches, goblins, black cats, fairies and demons of all kinds said to be roaming about. It was the time to placate the supernatural powers controlling the processes of nature. In addition, Halloween was thought to be the most favorable time for divinations concerning marriage, luck, health, and death. It was the only day on which the help of the devil was invoked for such purposes.” (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2005, “Halloween”)

Besides Samhain, the Druids also celebrated the festival of Beltane. The word Beltane (Beltaine, Beltinne, Beltain, Beiltein) literally means the “fires of Bel.” Bel is the same god called Baal, found over 80 times in the Bible. The Lord condemns Baal worship more than any other false “god.” “. . . then the Druids lit the Baal-Tinne, the holy, goodly fire of Baal.” (Wilde, Lady Francesca Speranza. Ancient Legends, Mystic Charms, and Superstitions of Ireland)

Now, I understand that you have no intention of having your son or daughter to bow down to Ba’al, we still have a problem when we celebrate this evil day. Doing so, even in our modern ways makes the actual practitioners of Satanism, very happy:

“We see this holiday as the night when the mundane folk try to reach down inside and touch the “darkness” which for Satanists is a daily mode of existence… Children (of all ages) can indulge their fantasies by donning costumes that allow for intense role-playing and the release of their “demonic cores,” the parts of their personalities often hidden from their friends, co-workers and families…Though there are traditions making this an occasion for recalling the dead, it has been popularized as a time to play with what historically were fears directed towards what were thought to be unquiet spirits of the departed. Satanists embrace what this holiday has become, and do not feel the need to be tied to ancient practices. This night, we smile at the amateur explorers of their own inner darkness, for we know that they enjoy their brief dip into the pool of the “shadow world.” (SOURCE: Church of Satan Website).

That…was…from…the…church…of…SATAN.

Understand this, please: To celebrate this holiday is to align yourself with the demonic activity of the one who wants to steal, kill and destroy your life. Satan hates you. Why would you align yourself with his practices, in any way? Why acknowledge a day established for demon worship? Here’s what the Bible says: “But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?” (1 Corinthians 10:20-22).

Friends, I need you to understand this (and we often forget): God is a jealous God. He will not share us with anyone. Please do not dress up as demons and believe that somehow, God will be pleased with such actions. If you’d like to do a replacement event, how about instead of “Hallelujahween”, “Trunk or Treat”, “Harvest Festival”, or “Candy Day”,  introduce Jesus to the little kids who come to your door. Bring the gospel to the kids in your neighborhood, and their parents. Remember, we remain Christians during this time of year. Also, Minister Ose has an entire plan for that day, to those exact ends. Talk to her, and bring these children to Jesus!

Here is a word about Halloween from the current leader of the Church of Satan: “Yes, the demons have indeed provided a crystalline vision of the future to me this most unhallowed night. I see the firelight flickering wildly in my son’s eyes as he dances happily in his pirate costume. I see the young monsters and witches and vampires loosed in our streets, never to be shackled again. I see reason and science and fantasy blasting away the dull lethargthy of defunct philosophies. I see Satanists all over the world meeting in small groups this night and Hallowe’ens 500 years hence, to raise a glass to the Infernal Hosts, the revolutionaries, myth-makers, infidels and reprobates, and to Anton LaVey—Long Live our High Priest!” (Magistra Blanche Barton, Church of Satan, 2021)

I don’t know how else to tell you this. Halloween is a demonic and antichrist unHolyday. I implore you not to even imitate such dark works. You cannot drink of the Lord’s cup, and the cup of devils. You are Christian. Your very soul ought to grieve at the very mention of this terrible observation.

Finally, the danger of child kidnapping and sacrifice is very real during this week. Satanic rituals on October 31st are at their peak. The dark powers we spend all year, rebuking are stirred up on this night. It’s not time for candy and costumes. It’s time for prayer, and fasting. Now, hear me out: We are headed into the holiday season. There will be fun, feasting, and lots of candy – but without demons!

This week, starting at midnight, (after Night Watch), we will be fasting. This involves having ONE MEAL PER DAY, and fasting the rest of the day. Also, one hour of communion with God in prayer and the Word of God. Finally, we should all partake in an act of mercy this week. It may be to volunteer at the Merchant, Night Light Tulsa, or On the Porch…whatever God leads you to do. DON’T JUST STOP EATING!!! Here’s Isaiah 58 to clarify what I am saying:

Is this the kind of fast I have chosen,
    only a day for people to humble themselves?
Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed
    and for lying in sackcloth and ashes?
Is that what you call a fast,
    a day acceptable to the Lord?
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
    and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
    and break every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
    and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter–

when you see the naked, to clothe them,
    and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[a] will go before you,
    and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
    you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

Let us seek and serve the Lord together so that we will know how to shine our light in this dark season.

Let’s fast. Let’s pray. I’ll see you at prayer tonight!

***By the way, I know what you are thinking (actually, I don’t). However, I will be writing a paper soon, on why we DO celebrate Christmas with lights, presents, feasting and parties. And no, it’s not because Christmas celebrations are in the Bible. They’re not. But, Christmas is NOTHING like Halloween, at all.
